California Sues Uber & Lyft for Misclassification

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra and other city attorneys are suing Uber and Lyft for misclassifying their workers under the new Assembly Bill 5 (AB-5). The accusations include “depriving workers of protections, including a minimum wage, overtime, paid sick leave, and unemployment insurance, that they would be entitled to as employees”. Each company has heavily opposed the AB-5 from passing.
